Myanmar: Church Destroyed as Junta Continues Onslaught
The Johnson Memorial Baptist Church and 10 civilian houses were destroyed in a junta attack in the deserted town of Thantalang in western Myanmar’s Christian-majority Chin state, according to media reports. Chin Human Rights Organization said it was the 29th arson attack in the town and nine church buildings have been destroyed so far.
Uganda: Youth Pastor Killed in Attack on Church
A youth pastor in Uganda died on May 26 from an axe blow to the head sustained during an Islamic attack on a church on May 20. Emmanuel Mugabi sustained deep cuts on his leg and head and lost consciousness in the attack, said Bishop Sserugga John Assaph of Bukomero Miracle Center Church in Bukomero, Kiboga District, about 75 miles northwest of Kampala. Mugabi succumbed to a blood clot from the head injuries after a week of treatment. He was 32.
Nigeria: Christian Homes and Stores Burned
Six Christian-owned homes and seven stores were burned by a mob of Islamic youths in Nigeria’s northern Bauchi state, injuring approximately 20 people. The youth were looking for Rhoda Jatau, a 40-year-old Christian woman who works as a medical staff member. One Muslim man claimed to have seen a blasphemous comment made by Jatau online and spread the word about said comment to fellow Muslims in the area.
Nigeria: New ISIS Video Depicts Execution of Nigerian Christians
ISIS released a new video via a news outlet of the execution of twenty Nigerian Christians in the northeast Nigerian state of Borno. The executions were perpetrated by militants belonging to the Islamic State affiliate group Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), an offshoot of Boko Haram.
Uganda: Villagers Destroy Church and Pastor’s House
Muslims furious that an Islamic leader and his wife put their faith in Christ destroyed a pastor’s house and church building in eastern Uganda on May 6, sources said.
India: Police Accused of Destroying Church Building
Christians are still awaiting action against a police officer alleged to have burned down a church building and threatened them with false charges if they continue worshiping, sources said.
