Nigeria: Nearly 200 Christians Killed in Christmas Eve Massacre 

Suspected Nigerian Fulani militias attacked 21 Christian villages in the Bokkos, Barkin Ladi, and Mangu counties of Plateau State on Christmas Eve, killing nearly 200 villagers according to government officials and humanitarian groups. The number of dead is expected to rise as families continue to search for missing loved ones.
On Thursday, Plateau State Commissioner of Information and Communication Hon. Musa Ashoms reported 195 people killed during the Christmas Eve attacks, and villagers were still missing. He told communities to defend themselves and take up arms as needed.

Nigeria: Islamist Kill Christian, Kidnap 25 Others

Suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked a village in northern Nigeria on early Tuesday (Oct. 31), killing one Christian, wounding two and kidnapping 25 others, sources said. In southern Kaduna state’s village of Ungwan Baka, Kachia County, the assailants attacked while residents were asleep, said area resident Emmanuei Yusuf. “The Christian villagers were attacked in the early hours of Tuesday,” Yusuf told Morning Star News in a text message. “The injured victims are currently being treated in the hospital.”

Nigeria: Islamist Kill Seven Christians in Plateau State 

On Thursday (Nov. 30) Islamist killed seven Christians in attacks on two villages in Plateau state, Nigeria, sources said. The assailants attacked Puka and Dinter villages in Mangu County at about 1 a.m., said Yohanna Markus of Puka. “Fulani herdsmen together with a group of bandits attacked two of our villages, Puka and Dinter, where they killed seven of our Christian villagers,” Markus told Morning Star News in a text message. “Aside from those killed, who include five men and a woman, many other Christians were injured and are currently being treated for gunshot wounds and machete cuts.”

Pakistan: Blasphemy Charge Devastates Christian Family

A court in Pakistan this month granted bail to a Christian falsely charged with blasphemy, but he and his family have separated and gone into hiding amid threats to their lives, sources said.
Haroon Shahzad, 45, was released from Sargodha District Jail on Nov. 15, said his attorney, Aneeqa Maria. Shahzad was charged with blasphemy on June 30 after posting Bible verses on Facebook that infuriated Muslims, causing dozens of Christian families in Chak 49 Shumaali, near Sargodha in Punjab Province, to flee their homes.

Nigeria: 16 Christians Slain in Attacks in Benue State 

Islamist on Sunday (Oct. 29) killed six Christians in Benue state, following the slaughter of 10 others earlier this month, sources said.
In Tse Gamber village, Gwer West County, the assailants early on Sunday killed three Christians and kidnapped another, said area resident Perver Acham. He identified the kidnapped Christian as Iorhon Dam. Acham said three other Christians were slain in Ngai village at about the same time.

Uganda: Husband Sets Wife on Fire for Accepting Christ

A woman in eastern Uganda has been hospitalized with serious burns after her Muslim husband discovered she had converted to Christianity and set her on fire, area sources said.
Hajara Namwase, a 32-year-old mother of three children in Kenkebu village, Budaka town, is still receiving hospital treatment for third-degree burns after her husband, 42-year-old Musa Kalele, on Oct. 17 threw gasoline and a lighted match on her, a friend of the victim told Morning Star News.

Uganda: Elderly Couple Left Homeless for Converting to Christianity

An elderly couple in eastern Uganda has fled their village after Muslim relatives upset with their conversion to Christianity threatened to destroy them and their home, sources said.
In Wakalende village, Kyebando Ward in Mayuge town, 70-year-old Sula Mugudi and his wife, Aisha Mugudi, 62, put their faith in Christ on Sept. 16 during a church’s weeklong evangelistic campaign of home visits.

Islamist on Sunday (Oct. 1) killed eight Christians in Plateau state, Nigeria, and wounded five others, sources said. The assailants attacked Du village, in Bassa County’s Kwall District, with two children among those slain and the wounded requiring hospital treatment, said Davidson Malison, spokesman of the Irigwe Development Association (IDA), in a press statement.
